Journalism and the struggle against overtourism with journalist Yannis Palaiologos

As Greece has recovered from its economic crisis, it has not been able to shed its over-reliance on tourism. One of its most popular regions, the Cyclades, is facing enormous pressure on its already teetering infrastructure. Liliane De Brauwer, journalism student at Panteion University discussed the challenges of reporting on overtourism with journalist Yannis Palaiologos, co-founder of “Sustainable Cyclades,” a journalistic project covering aspects of this crisis, during the 2024 iMEdD International Journalism Forum in Athens for the Forum’s pop-up newsroom.
