Suspension of operations in schools due to COVID-19
We have put on the map the educational units that have suspended their operation throughout Greece, due to cases of coronavirus, and we have calculated the progress of the suspensions over time.
After the end of the third week from the opening of primary schools, kindergartens and special schools of all levels in their physical environment, a total of 204 educational units throughout Greece have suspended their operations due to coronavirus cases, according to data provided by the Ministry of Education by Saturday, January 30. In 164 of these schools, the suspension of operations has been announced regarding specific classes or grades (partial suspension), while 40 schools have completely suspended their operations.
Practically, at the end of this third week, suspensions are increased by 63.6% compared to the end of the previous week: on Friday, January 29, 211 schools are found to be out of operation compared to 129 on Friday, January 22.
The data are recorded 11 days after the reopening of the retail sector and two days before the partial return of secondary school students to the classrooms.
