A collaboration between iMEdD and GIJN.
The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) in collaboration with iMEdD have co-produced the guide “Introduction to Investigative Journalism“, written by some of the world’s leading investigative journalists and published simultaneously in English and Greek.
The guide is a product of the knowledge amassed during the hybrid training program implemented by GIJN and iMEdD’s Ideas Zone, under the same title, from September to November 2024. The program was attended by 12 journalists from around the world.
In a total of ten chapters, journalistic techniques such as finding sources and following the money, data journalism and fact-checking are discussed. Also included are tips around digital security, collaborating with other journalists and editing investigative journalism.
Specifically, the chapters of the guide are: Introduction to Investigative Journalism, Finding Sources and Backgrounding: People, Public Records, Freedom of Information, Interviewing Techniques for Beginners, Deep Internet Research – Leveraging Open-Source Research and Verification Techniques, Following the Money, An Introduction to Data Journalism, Fact-Checking, Digital Security, Collaborations, Editing: The Investigative Article.
